A small medieval village, ensconced in the Valley of l'Ennuyé. Sainte-Jalle was the home of Faulque Thollon-de-Sainte-Jalle, one of the most prominent figures of the religious wars. It was at one time the capital of the Grenier des Baronnies, a renowned trading centre for many centuries. Nowadays the village holds, every 3rd Saturday in August, You can visit the ruins of the castle, and its 12th or 13th century dungeon, the Church Notre-Dame de Beauver (or Bauvoir) from the 12th century. |
