13 km from Buis les Baronnies Altitude : 637 Number of inhabitants : 191
A very picturesque perched village which still has remains of its old fortifications. A fief of the Montaubans, and then a possession of the Adhémars in the 14th century, during which time they set up a Charter of Liberties, The hill next to it is colonised by chestnut trees which grow extremely well in the siliceous grounds, a total geological mystery! One can visit the 1870 church, the castle ruins, the fountain with its swan-necked spouts, the narrow paved streets (said to be ‘en calade’ in French), its soustet, as well as the natural park, up from the village. |
