Two distinct villages. Attractive remains of the castle of La-Tour-Gouvernet. The fief of the Bishops of Die in the 13th century, and then of the Montauban-Gouvernet. After that it came into the hands of the La Tour-Gouvernets, one of which, René de La Tour-Gouvernet, was appointed by Henri the 4th as head of his armies. A commune formed by the reunion of the three ancient distinct communes of Saint-Sauveur, Gouvernet and La Bâtie-Verdun.
